Spoke is members of the community, organisations, individuals and service providers meet monthly to address community needs. Any interested person is welcome to attend meetings, which are held 2 - 4pm on the first Wednesday of each month at LNH, Lemon Street Clare. The Lower North Spoke group is a strong and vibrant community network working to improve the health and well being of all people in the Lower North.

THE NAME SPOKE IS DERIVED FROM SEVERAL SYMBOLIC ASSOCIATIONS:

"Spoke" as in speaking forums

"Spoke" as in connections to a hub

"Spokes in a wheel" to keep things rolling
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THE LOWER NORTH SPOKE SUPPORTS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:

Guest speakers increase our knowledge and awareness of resources appropriate to our services.

Administration of "Health Promotion" Small Grants provided to grass roots community organizations. (Funding from Wakefield Health Promotion Development Committee).

Regular information sharing and networking opportunity.

Representation on Wakefield Spoke Network.

The Wakefield Spoke Network is comprised of the Barossa, Lower North & Yorke Peninsula Spokes, creating a "hub" of community collaboration with reputation of service development that is seen, particularly by those in Government as means for:

Collecting vital local level planning information for use in allocation of funding to the region
